"Not yet, at least..."
~Karl's known quote

Karl is a self-proclaimed genius, the secondary antagonist in the All Hail King Julien Netflix series, and a recurring antagonist in All Hail King Julien: Exiled. He is Bruce's younger brother.

Part of Karl's history mentioned that he has a brother named Bruce who was better than him at most things.

When he first attempted to take King Julien's life, Mort ended up taking the blow. Karl then made himself known to King Julien and invited him to his lair, even giving him directions on a laminated brochure.

After Clover and Maurice were captured, King Julien made his way to Karl's lair at a crashed zeppelin. Karl said he wanted to get his zeppelin in the sky once again, but he must first become the "greatest mind in all of Madagascar". This would mean he would have to destroy Julien. While Karl was ranting about his plans, King Julien managed to free Clover and Maurice.

When King Julien, Clover, and Maurice exited the zeppelin, they were confronted by Karl who prepared to fire a laser at the king. However, the balloon carrying the wish rocks of every lemur in the kingdom, fell from the sky and landed on Karl. Seeing his "Surprise Me" wish roll to his feet, King Julien took it as a sign that Frank had helped him defeat Karl.

Karl is an eloquent yet violent enemy of King Julien. He obsesses over Julien to the point of leaving deadly traps and appearing in his bedroom late at night, multiple times. Despite his charming nature and smooth voice, Karl seems well trained in the art of combat, enough so to take down Clover in a matter of seconds. He seems to have selective hearing, as he ignores a lot of what others say in favor of furthering the conversation. Karl's speech is often ominous, as he ends many of his sentences with "not yet, at least" or "for now". Although Karl exudes an air of confidence, he eventually reveals to Julien that no one has ever taken him seriously, and that his older brother was always favored over him.

Karl is a talented trap setter, and has set various traps for Julien, a lot of which were deadly. Also, he is able to train or work with even the deadliest of animals, like crocodiles or foosa. He is capable of entering Julien's room (and presumably other places) without leaving any trace of his presence until he wants to be revealed. He managed to capture Clover in less than a minute and can communicate to his hissing cockroach, Chauncey, who acts as his spy. It is implied, that Karl has experience in graphic design, as he designed his own font (which he refers to as "Karlvectica"). Karl also has an inexplicable ability to light candles on command.

Despite wanting to be recognized as the "greatest mind in all of Madagascar", Karl is capable of being outsmarted. Julien's behavior takes him off guard on multiple occasions, to the point of Julien actually leaves the room while Karl is talking to him, without him even noticing. He also seems to have an inner-lying sense of low self-esteem, which Julien regards as his "issues".

Karl with King Julien XIII.

  • King Julien XIII - Karl has an obsession with Julien, believing that the two of them have a destiny together. He seems to both admire as well as strongly dislike Julien. He appears many times in his bedroom just to compliment him, only to then threaten him an instant later. He also attempts to build memories of the two of them together by "savouring the moment", though he plans to destroy Julien as soon as it is over. He became his nemesis because he wanted to be Julien's friend in school, but Julien never noticed him.
  • Chauncey - Chauncey acts as Karl's spy, pet, and close friend. Karl bosses him around and rewards his work with waste-matter, but it also appears that he has an incredibly strong soft spot for the hissing cockroach, as he is often seen petting him, cooing at him, and even saying that the two of them "know all about crazy love" before making air kisses at him.
