~Koto [source]

Koto is a major character in All Hail King Julien. The centre antagonist of the series alongside the Fossas. He was the main antagonist of the fourth season, and the main antagonist of All Hail King Julien: Exiled. He was killed by King Julien during the War of the Beasts, and his death marks the end to the war.

He was still seen after his death as a ghost in a few episodes.

Biography[]

Rise as King[]

Koto was the second son of the unnamed Mountain Lemur king. When he was younger, he had a good relationship with his older brother, Sage, who was the heir to the throne. However, Sage rejected the throne and passed it down to his younger brother. The advisors of the king warned him of Koto and his darkness, however, it was too late when Sage passed up the throne and Koto became king.

He ruled the kingdom with tyranny and was said to have pillaged and raided many kingdoms across Madagascar during his reign.

War of the Beasts[]

Koto first encountered King Julien when Julien fell from a waterfall and onto the head of a snake Koto was fighting. Koto then befriended him and thanked him profusely for saving his life. He claimed to be the last of his kind due to the foosa eating the rest of the mountain lemurs.

Later, King Julien brought Koto to his kingdom and showed him around as Koto questioned the kingdom's defenselessness. He continued to do this even as he was on a date with Clover, who rescued lemurs from the foosa with him.

Koto later bade farewell, then he returned to his kingdom, where many lemurs of his kind resided, and revealed to everyone his plan to take over the kingdom.

He began pillaging and raiding kingdoms across the island of Madagascar during the prelude to the War of the Beasts, including the Aye-Aye Kingdom, Crocodile Kingdom, Rat Kingdom, and eventually the Kingdom of Madagascar.

When Koto and his army arrived at King Julien's kingdom, he at first tried to reason with King Julien as a friend, but due to Julien's selfishness, Koto had no choice but to take over the kingdom. he used the kingdom as their base which held the kingdom's prison, and also took over the Plane to be used as his own palace.

King Julien and several of his subjects later escaped the kingdom, and spent time launching attacks on the kingdom with the help of several outside forces, most of which failed. However, the last brought victory to King Julien's party.

Death[]

Koto was killed during the battle in "The Day Before Tomorrow" after King Julien accidentally and unintentionally pushed Koto's statue and it crushed him to death. King Julien blamed the accident on Maurice. After his death, he was sent to Frank-Ri-La, and celebrated along with King Julien's Former Enemies as well as two talking fruits named Pineapple and Watermelon Bawkings, he smiles at Julien, only to disappear, with Willie being shocked that he didn't disappear with them. Koto was last seen partying along with the other deceased villains and Pineapple & Watermelon Bawkings, to celebrate his brother Sage, and his former love interest Clover's wedding ceremony.

Personality[]

Koto was a fierce and strong leader of the Mountain Lemurs, who never backed down to his enemies. He also seems to have had a soft spot for Clover. He frequently displayed a cunning and decisive personality towards his enemies.

Relationships[]

Sage[]

Koto and Sage were close when they were younger. Being brothers, they would spend their time with each other, until Koto became king and Sage decided to leave for his own good. During the War of the Beasts when Sage and Koto encountered each other in the Mountain Lemur Kingdom, Sage displayed compassion for Koto and attempted to help Koto change for the better. However, Koto did not think of the same and imprisoned his own brother.

This, along with a few other occurrences, led to Sage attempting to kill Koto during the War of the Beasts after a battle on hawk-back. He was later stopped from killing Koto by Clover, who convinced him that violence was not the only option and that making him suffer alive would be better. King Julien eventually accidentally killed him.

King Julien[]

Koto and King Julien were allies at first, because of Karl, bringing out a snake to let Julien be friends with Koto (and later, let Koto take over All of Madagascar so that King Julien can fight him and take his crown back.) but despite this being Karl's Plan to prove that King Julien and himself are the Same. Koto and King Julien started having a relatively Good Relationship. after Koto realized how beautiful and unprotected Julien’s kingdom was, he originally wanted to persuade King Julien, telling him that he's "doing this, as a friend". (implying that Koto wanted to aid King Julien by his side, to help his Kingdom grow stronger), but became enemies after King Julien refused, this left Koto no choice, but to turn against Julien's Kingdom, there he took over the Lemur kingdom of Madagascar, leaving King Julien with only one choice if he wanted his crown back, to fight Koto. Julien escapes, and eventually allies with others (namely Karl, Mary Ann, and his uncle) to reclaim the kingdom from Koto. They disguise themselves as a foosa in an attempt to ambush Koto, but this fails, and soon Julien faces death at the hands of Koto once more. However, he is rescued again. After a failed attack, Julien and his allies plan one more attack, which works this time. Despite being captured by Koto's hawk, Julien finally gets on the top and furiously chomps Koto's behind, presumably as revenge for the misery he put him through. Finally, at the end of the battle, as Koto is about to be put in prison, Julien accidentally kills him by leaning on a rock which crushes him. Despite this, at the victory party, Julien he sees Pineapple, along with Captain Ethan, Butterfly Queen, Wigman Wildebeest, King Julien the Terrible, Karen, Magic Steve, and Koto. He sees Koto’s spirit nod and smile at him.
