Madagascar: Operation Penguin was a game based on the Madagascar film. The game starts near the end of "The Madagascar Penguins in a Christmas Caper", then skips ahead nine months and takes place in the events leading up to and during "Madagascar".
Gameplay[]
The game uses the same engine as the Madagascar Game Boy Advance game, retaining many of the same mechanics. The player assumes control of Private, as he helps Skipper and the other penguins escape the zoo. The player must play through multiple levels based on different locations such as the animal's habitats. While most are basic platformer levels, there are a few levels with stealth elements. As the player progress through the game, they will receive upgrades and new abilities. The player also can pick up medals along the way, which are required to achieve 100%. However, some are not accessible when the player first visits and require the player to return when they have the appropriate upgrades. If the player accumulates enough, they will gain a health upgrade, with 10 units being the maximum. There are also minigames, such a dancing minigame and three toboggan courses.
