The Rite of passage is a traditional coming of age ceremony presented in Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. Lions competes in this to earn a place in the pride.
Pre-history[]
Lions wanting to join the pride are required to fight an opponent in a wrestling ring, If they pass, they will join the pride, If they fail, they are banished. In the arena, There are various painting marks of paw prints and a cave painting of a lion cub pouncing. This could mean that this tradition has gone on for generations.
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa[]
Alex and three cubs are shown preparing for the ceremony by painting their faces and bodies. Alex tells the cubs that dancing comes from the heart, Which results to him being started at with the cub in green paint replying with "Sure mister".

- Alex has comic/tragic masks painted on his chest.
- It is unknown what the chant in the arena is Swahili-an for.
- Teetsi is the only opponent shown in the ring, It's currently unknown if there are more tough lions in the arena.
