Scene I: Central Park Zoo[]

Exterior shot of the zoo; it is a very cold and snowy day. Zoom in to the Reptile House. Three chameleons crack the door and look out, and quickly return inside upon turning a freezing blue color. Move to Marlene trying to dive into her pond, only to smack into frozen water.

Scene II: Lemur Habitat[]

Julien and Maurice are sitting by an air vent at the bottom of their habitat, shivering.

Julien: Maurice! Fetch me the royal thermometer!

Maurice: Thermometer says...

Maurice holds up Mort, who is blue and frozen solid, in front of Julien.

Mort: Cold...

Maurice sets Mort down on top of the vent.

Julien: [stands up] We must ask the Sky Spirits to turn this freezy wind toasty. [raises arms] Oh great Sky Spirits...

A gust of wind blows by, turning Julien blue and freezing him solid.

Maurice: Maybe you should say "pretty please"?

Mort: [gasps] The royal feet are frostbite-ed!

Mort tries to inch closer to Julien's feet.

Scene III: Penguin Habitat[]

Skipper: Kowalski, give me some options for evening out these fierce tans.

The penguins are laying on their wooden plank chairs. Skipper and Kowalski are wearing sunglasses; Private has a glob of sunscreen in his flipper; Rico has a tanning mirror.

Kowalski: I suggest a 180° horizontal axis rotation.

Skipper: Right. On my mark... flip!

All four flip over onto their stomachs. Zoom out to see they have four heat lamps aimed at them around their habitat.

Scene IV: Zoo Walkway[]

Alice: So, Doctor, you're studying... penguins?

Alice, wearing long sleeves under her zoo uniform shirt and shorts, leads a bundled up man with a toboggan full of equipment through the zoo.

Dr. Peary: Yes. It's my profession and my passion. I can't tell you how valuable it will be to observe them under these harsh and unforgiving Antarctic conditions.

Alice: Whatever floats your root beer.

Scene V: Penguin Habitat[]

The penguins are seen playing volleyball, Rico and Private against Skipper and Kowalski. Rico blocks a shot, but Skipper delivers a direct attack, which knocks Rico down, but he slides in, barfing out the ball, then it rolls to Skipper and Kowalski's side, with Skipper picking it up afterwards.

Skipper: Prepare to get served, boys.

Before Skipper performs the serve, Rico whistles, pointing to his right, indicating that Alice and Dr. Peary are on their way over, they hurry up and pack everything on their HQ, then slide onto place. Suddenly the ball rolls in, but Skipper immediately kicks it out.

Alice: Let me know if you see anything, "weird".

Dr. Peary: Weird how?

The volleyball hits Alice's head. She looks around.

Alice: You'll know it if you see it, Doc.

Alice leaves, with just the Doctor and the penguins on their respective places.

Dr. Peary: Wow, they really are amazing creatures. A wind chill of -30, and look at them. Loving it.

Quite contrary. Cut to the penguins, then zoom. They're shivering from the cold.

Skipper: Cute and c-c-c-cuddly, boys. C-Cute and cuddly.

Private: Skipper, how c-c-c-cold is it?

Skipper: K-K-K-Kowalski?

Kowalski: I-I-I c-c-c-can't say for certain, but I put it o-o-over at -17 °F. (touches his nostrils, he feels ice.) The freezing point of snot.

Private: I've lost the feeling in the left cheek...

Skipper: That's my cheek, Private. And it's the right one. But don't worry. (Cut closed-up to his face) This joker can't last much longer.

With everything set up, the doctor turns on his heat lamp.

Skipper: I stand corrected.

Some time has passed, now the doctor moves to his camera, cut to the camera's POV, then zoom. Private's alongside some penguin wind-up toys, one tumbles down, Private notices this and picks it back up.

Cut back to the doctor, he takes out his glasses, then rubs his eyes, he puts them back on, then moves back to the camera.

Cut to Private and the "penguins", Private looks back, with a worried look on his face.

Private: I don't think he's buying it...

Pan to Kowalski, Rico and Skipper, with Kowalski holding his clipboard.

Skipper: You gotta sell it, Private!

He picks up the binoculars, cut to their POV, looking around, to spot the furnace room.

Skipper: It's time to turn up the heat.

Skipper puts the binoculars down, then jumps out.

Scene VI: Zoo Walkway[]

Skipper lands outside the penguins' habitat, with Kowalski and Rico following, all three then standing on a "On your marks" position, then skating their way over. Jumping to a lightpole, flying off of it, then Skipper after landing catches Kowalski and Rico, lifting them in a Figure Skating pose. then approaching the boiling room's door.

Scene VII: Furnace Room[]

Cut to the furnace, with fire inside. Rico slams its door shut. then holds a walkie-talkie. Kowalski is hooking a device into a pipe.

Kowalski: This vapor rig should increase steam output by 700%, raising temperatures all over the zoo.

Cut to the chameleons standing on top of a vent, shivering in a blue color. When the steam blows out of it, they turn to red, sighing in relief. Pan to Marlene's habitat, sitting on another vent. When the steam blows out of it, she pulls out a pair of sunglasses, then sighs in relief. Pan to the lemurs' habitat, with Mort laying on another vent, chilled blue. When the steam blows out of it, he "thaws", then puts his hands under his head, sighing in relief, pan to Skipper.

Skipper: Outstanding.

Kowalski: I just need to add a cooling line to prevent the pressure from--

Cut to Rico listening in on the walkie talkie. Cut to Private giving the alert.

Private: Emergency Alpha! Emergency Alpha! Emergency Alice!

Cut to Alice as she is in her way over to their habitat with a suitcase, cut to the penguins as they run over there.

Scene VIII: Penguin Habitat[]

Cut to Private and the penguin toys, they pack in the toys and come out immediately, Private being a little late, then Alice drops a cage on all four of them.

Alice: Gotcha! I don't know where you birds go, but you're not going anywhere now.

Dr. Peary has joined her on the island. He opens the the suitcase, then pulls out a plier and a tag.

Dr. Peary: Yes, it is essential that they stay in the study area.

Private: Skipper!

Skipper: Don't sweat it, Private. Better men than this guy have tried to make me talk. [The doctor grabs him by the head] Help!

The doctor attaches one tag to all of their ankles. A diagram of their habitat with a dot for each of the penguins is shown on his monitor.

Alice: There, lockdown! Good luck, doc.

Alice leaves the doctor and the penguins again.

Private looks at the tag, and so do the others.

Private: Not so bad. Kinda flashy, actually. What are they?

Kowalski, sighs: Electronic Tracking Devices. Our every move will be monitored.

Skipper: That ain't gonna fly. No one can know where we are at all times. [He gets up] Not even us! Rico! [He puts his flipper up] Hacksaw me.

Rico barfs out a hacksaw, which lands on Skipper's flipper.

Private: Skipper, how long will it take to saw out the bracelet?

Skipper: The bracelet? I was just gonna saw off my foot. But maybe you're onto something there, Private.

Skipper puts the hacksaw over the tag, but Kowalski stops him by grabbing the hacksaw.

Kowalski: No! Tempo-resistant lining. You'll break the circuit and sound the alarm.

Knowing this, Skipper throws away the hacksaw.

Skipper: Well boys, looks like we've got us a waiting game.

Kowalski: I'm afraid we can't afford to wait, Skipper. [Pan to the cooling device in the furnace room] We've left the furnace room before I had the chance to install the cooling upgrade. [Cut to a pressure gauge] Without it, the internal steam pressure will build until...

Pan to Rico.

Rico: Kaboom.

Cut to Kowalski, Private and Skipper.

Private: Oh dear. [Tumbles, then faints]

Closer pan to Kowalski and Skipper.

Skipper: How long?

Kowalski: 2 hours, 4 minutes. Unless we get down there and finish the job.

Cut back to the three penguins.

Private: But what about the scientist? Do you think he'll notice us if we try to leave?

To confirm it, Skipper slides to a fence of their habitat, and sticks out the tagged leg, with the tag sending a signal, sounding the alarm, the doctor notices it, pulls out his camera and takes various pictures.

Skipper: Affirmative.

So they make a plan, wipe to a close-up to the doctor, eating an apple, suddenly the alarm goes off, surprising the doctor, that he drops his apple. He pulls out some binoculars to look into the habitat. cut to the binoculars' POV, he looks around, with no sight of the penguins.

Dr. Peary: Where did they go?

Some fog is seen through, it was Private, blinding the doctor by breathing into the binoculars, the doctor backs off, pulls off his glasses to check them, while Private gives them a signal. Cut to Kowalski, Rico and Skipper, Kowalski and Rico are holding the volleyball net while Skipper pulls it like it was a slingshot, then puts a walkie-talkie on it, and lets go of it, flinging it out into the air.

Scene IX: Lemur Habitat[]

Cut to Julien's feet on a steaming vent, zoom out, Mort and Maurice were with him too, with Maurice holding Mort in over the vent.

Julien: We must thank the Sky Spirits for providing the warm coziness we are now experiencing. [Comes out from under the place of the vent] If there is ever, anything I could do, anything-- Ow.

The impact of the walkie-talkie to the face interrupted him. Both him and the walkie-talkie are on the ground. He looks at the device, then Maurice.

Skipper (through walkie-talkie): There's something we need you to do.

Maurice pulls Mort out

Maurice: You offered.

He looks back at the walkie-talkie, aproaches it, then picks it up.

Julien: Eh... Hi. Howdy. Sky Spirit. I, would never thought you would sound a little like a dusty [chuckles] penguin.

Skipper: Clam up and listen to me.

Julien: A lot like a dusty penguin, actually...

Skipper: Your kingdom is gonna blow up in 1 hour, 47 minutes.

Julien: Oooh. Revengeful Sky Spirit.

Cut to Skipper with the other walkie-talkie.

Skipper: It's me, Skipper, you idi--! Alright, just listen to the plan.

Scene X: Furnace Room[]

Cut to the furnace room, some steam has been building already. A vent falls out, then the lemurs. Maurice belly-first, Julien falls over Maurice back-to-back, Mort bounces off of Julien, somersaulting before landing, then the walkie-talkie for last. Julien grabs it after falling on Maurice.

Julien: Are you sure this is the place? It's very, steamy.

Cut to an upper view of the penguin habitat. Private and Rico are with two penguin toys, while Kowalski and Skipper behind the "island".

Skipper: Listen up, Ringtail, you have 1 hour and 12 minutes to install that cooling device.

Cut to the furnace room with the lemurs.

Julien: Is this including, lounge, poppy breaking, underall siesta?

Cut to Skipper and Kowalski.

Skipper, sighs: Kowalski's gonna walk you through it. Step by step. So do exactly what he says.

Cut back to the furnace room with the lemurs. then back to Skipper, he rolls his eyes in annoyance.

Julien: I am royalty! I can not be told exactly what to do.

Skipper: Well, how about you order Kowalski to tell you exactly what to do?

Cut to the furnace room with Julien on screen.

Julien: Yeah, okay. That will work.

Scene XI: Penguin Habitat[]

Cut to Rico. He's doing a blank face as the doctor looks at him, but every time he writes in his notebook, he would make some mocking motion to him before he returns to the blank expression as the doctor look back at him. Skipper then peeks up from under the "island"

Skipper: Private! Rico! Report.

Private: I think the scientist's getting suspicious!

Skipper: Enough with the smoked mirrors! We need to start acting like penguins.

Private: But we only know the "Smile and wave" routine. What else do penguins do?

Skipper: I don't have the fadest.

Scene XII: Furnace Room[]

Cut to the pressure gauge. the needle's now on the yellow-red edge, meanwhile, Julien uses Mort while installing the cooling unit. After that, Julien pulls Mort out of it, his head rapidly twisting back into place.

Mort: Yay! I'm a wrench!

Cut to Maurice, holding the walkie-talkie. then to the three lemurs with the cooling unit installed.

Maurice: Okay, the cooling unit is in place.

Cut to Kowalski, holding the other walkie-talkie

Kowalski: Listen carefully, if you open the lower casing, you should see seven different knobs:

Cut to the lemurs as they do so, only for the knobs to be:

Kowalski (through walkie-talkie): Red, Crimson, Scarlet, Brick, Cardinal, Ruby and Rose.

Cut to the lemurs, Julien looking worried about which one, and the others as well. So far as one of them gulped.

Kowalski (through walkie-talkie): Make absolutely certain that you twist only the Scarlet knob, or it's bye-bye zoo.

Scene XIII: Penguin Habitat[]

Cut to Rico and Skipper standing alongside two toy penguins.

Skipper: Private! We need some penguin material, pronto!

Private, reading a book: Okay, try scratching the ground and bobbing your heads.

They do so. but they're imitating another behavior...

Private: Now take a running start, flap your wings and leap off in the air and fly away!

Rico and Skiper, realizing it, look bak at Private incredulous.

Private: Oh, wait. That's pigeons.

Scene XIV: Furnace Room[]

Cut to the pressure gauge. the needle's now leaning a bit on the red zone, meanwhile, the lemurs are still trying to figure out which knob to turn.

Julien: Eh, eh... Eenie Meanie Miney... [He is suddenly startled.]

Cut to Maurice, holding the walkie-talkie.

Kowalski (through walkie-talkie): We're running out of time! Have you twisted the knob? Remember! Only the Scarlet knob!

Julien: Ah! Where was I?

Maurice: Mo!

Julien: Are your eyeballs seeing this color is Scarlet, or is this Brick?

Maurice: In this light... That might be Crimson.

Julien: Crimson?! Then which is the Ruby?

Maurice: Do I look like an interior decorator? They're all red! Just Twist The Knob!

Julien puts Mort upfront, Cut to the gauge, the needle's now on the red zone.

Scene XV: Penguin Habitat[]

Cut to Rico and Skipper standing alongside the two toy penguins. They're now facing each other beak against beak. Cut to the doctor, staring from the camera, with one apple on his hand. Closed up cut to Rico and Skipper.

Skipper: Private, is this really necessary?

Private, reading the book: Yes! It's critical to maintaining social order within the flock. You'll bring Rico first, then he'll do you.

Cut to Rico and Skipper, Rico is smiling.

Scene XVI: Furnace Room[]

Cut to the pressure gauge. the needle's now almost reaching the edge, meanwhile, Mort is now trying to figure out which knob to turn. He looks back at Julien and Maurice, they wave at him, then close their eyes and cover their ears. He then returns to the seven red knobs, and finally turns one. Cut to Julien, sucking on his thumb, while Maurice is still covering his ears, but they open their eyes out of surprise, then run to Mort, happily, hugging him.

Maurice: Ha-ha! Yeah!

Julien: I did it! Yeah!

All of a sudden, a noise from out of nowhere, the furnace is shaking from the pressure. A zoom out from the lemurs' spot reveals that they installed the device in the wrong place. Julien facepalms, Maurice takes the walkie-talkie.

Maurice: Uh, hypothetically speaking, what would happen if we install that cooling unit thing, uh, I don't know, maybe onto the Air Conditioning system, instead of the furnace?

Kowalski (through walkie-talkie, sighs): That would create a tank pressure reaction that would take out half the city, why?

Maurice: Oh, no reason.

Kowalski (through walkie-talkie): The only way to stop it would be to open the main water valve and blow up the whole place.

Maurice: Wait, could you repeat that last part? About stopping it?

Scene XVII: Penguin Habitat[]

Cut to Kowalski and Private, Kowalski is holding the other walkie-talkie.

Kowalski: Blow the whole place!

Upon hearing it, the lemurs freak out. Move to Rico and Skipper.

Skipper: We have to get down there! [pushes Rico, then slides, but Kowalski and Private stop him]

Private: Skipper! We can't!

Kowalski: Alice would have us in nets before we can get to them!

Rico jumps in, nodding agreeingly.

Private: It's up to the lemurs now.

Skipper: The lemurs?! [now struggles even harder]

Cut to the doctor, with notebook and pencil in hand.

Dr. Peary: Ah, freeing.

Scene XVIII: Furnace Room[]

Cut to the pressure gauge. the needle's now on the edge, and the cover blew, bricks are now falling. Meanwhile, with steam leaks around, the lemurs are now regrouping. Maurice is looking around looking for the valve.

Maurice: We have to find that water valve! [A leak catches him off-guard] WOOO! It's the only way to ease up the pressure!

Julien: So start finding it! Right Now!

Mort pulls Julien's arm, to catch his attention. He points to where it is. Zoom out. It appears easy at first, but suddenly, fire traps, loose wires and etcetera complicates it all. With all three staring in a scared awe, Julien first appoints Mort,

Julien: Mort, now is the time for you to start volunteering a little bit.

Only for him to be pushed away by a steam leak, he, then was going to pick Maurice, but a crate falls on his head. Leaving Julien on his own.

Julien: Very well. I guess that leaves-- Me?

Cut to the "obstacles" in front of the valve. At first Julien starts to panic a little bit, but slaps himself, relaxing. he the cracks his knuckles as a sign of preparing himself, then runs screaming through all of them, crashing straight into the valve.

Cut to another angle of the scene. Julien is now happy he got to the valve, but is struggling to move it, he then got tired, only for the valve to move on its own, with Julien grabbing it.

Scene XIX: Penguin Habitat[]

Cut to Dr. Peary. He's now holding both a camera and a tape recorder. He's taping a voice clip and now pointing the camera to them. Cut to the camera's POV as it shows the fight between Skipper and the three penguins.

Dr. Peary: Male penguins now exhibiting bizarre mating dance ritual.

Cut to the doctor as he looks excited, but all of the sudden a quake, which caught his attention, was followed by a clogging sound, then an explosion at the lemurs' volcano, sending the trio airborne, landing onto their bouncepad. Maurice and Mort first, and then Julien with the walkie-talkie. Cut to a close up of Skipper.'

Skipper: They did it! Nice going, Ringtail.

Cut to Julien in the bouncepad as he lifts his head up and picks up the walkie-talkie

Julien: Mission, accomplished! Over, under, and out.

He passes out. Cut to the doctor, a last bit of smoke from the explosion comes out of the volcano. Alice comes running up to the doctor as he looks at the photos taken.

Alice: Sorry about this, Doc. There's some malfunction in the central furnace.

Dr. Peary: Don't worry! I've already compiled more than enough data!

Scene XX: Public Conference[]

Wipe to a close-up to the doctor, he's now on regular clothing and in a public conference, handclaps are heard.

Dr. Peary: ...And I've also discovered a new method of penguin communication;

Zoom out to him and a shade, two pictures pass, with the four penguins "up-highing" each other, three pass, with Private "up-highing" Skipper, another three pass, with Kowalski backslapping Private.

Dr. Peary: The "Up-high", this is the "Down-low", followed by the "Too slow".
