Tranquilizer Darts are recurring objects throughout the franchise. They appear in Madagascar, The Penguins of Madagascar, Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, Penguins of Madagascar, and All Hail King Julien.

The effect is to make everyone paralyzed in a deep sleep, but they will awake in the last 6 hours.

Madagascar[]
While confronted by the police at Grand Central Station, Alex is shot with a tranquilizer dart by an Animal Control officer. Later, after the effects of the dart wear off and Alex awakens, several Animal Control officers shoot him with multiple darts and one hit his hand.
The Penguins of Madagascar[]
In the episode Brush with Danger, Skipper and Rico accidentally shoot Alice with a tranquilizer dart when a man walking by is about to find out about the Penguins’ antics, until the woman walking beside him convinces him it’s crazy talk.
Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted[]
King Julien is shot with a tranquilizer dart by Chantel DuBois during the car chase. In Rome when Dubious steals a cops motorcycle she is detained but darts 3 of the cops. During Dubious song she shoots a few lights and a switch with darts After arriving back at the zoo gates, The Zoosters are shot with darts by DuBois as well. At the end of the film, after Alex throws Dubious in his old zoo cage, Mort tranquilizes her.
Penguins of Madagascar[]
The Penguins are shot with tranquilizer darts by the North Wind while sending them to the island of Madagascar.
All Hail King Julien[]
In the episode That's Sooo Rob, Rob shoots Julien in the butt with a dart. In the episode The Day After Yesterday, Horst is shot with tranquilizer darts by Koto's Mountain Lemur guards.

- The Penguins of Madagascar was the first television series in the Madagascar franchise to feature these darts.
